In China, BlueScope Steel operates two businesses: BlueScope Steel China and BlueScope Buildings.
Our operations in China comprise a metallic coating and painting facility (under construction), seven world class building systems manufacturing facilities, 53 sales and marketing offices and approximately 1,500 employees.
BlueScope Steel China commenced the construction of its metallic coating and painting facility in February 2004. The facility is situated in Suzhou, 80 kms west of Shanghai and is expected to be completed in 2006. When completed, it will service customers in China's booming building and construction markets. The new plant will have a production capacity of 250,000 tonnes of metallic coated steel and 150,000 tonnes of painted steel.
